Statement from Mayor-Elect Chatman

I am overwhelmed with gratitude tonight. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. This moment belongs to each and every one of you who believed in a brighter future for our town. I’m incredibly honored and humbled to be elected as your next mayor.

First, I want to acknowledge my faith, it has been my anchor throughout this entire journey. In moments of uncertainty, it reminded me to keep going and trust the path ahead. To my family, friends, and dedicated supporters, you’ve been my steady source of strength. Your encouragement lifted me up on the hardest days, and your belief in me never wavered. I also want to thank Mayor John McMeekin for his years of service and commitment to Winnsboro. His leadership helped shape the foundation of this town, and I look forward to building on that work as we move forward together.

To the dedicated employees of the Town of Winnsboro, thank you for the work you do every day to keep our community running. I see your efforts, and I value your commitment. As we look ahead, I’m excited to work alongside our Town Manager and leadership team to build a strong, transparent partnership rooted in respect and shared purpose. Together, we will foster a culture of collaboration where every voice matters and every role contributes to our collective success.

This campaign was never about me, it was about us. It was about our shared hopes and our common ground. It was about better roads, thriving schools, safer streets, and opportunities that reach every corner of our community. You’ve spoken with your votes, and I’ve heard you loud and clear: You’re ready for progress, and you’re ready for leadership that listens.

I won’t pretend this work will be easy, but I promise you this: I’ll show up every day ready to work with you and for you. We’ll do this together, not as strangers, but as neighbors. Because real change doesn’t come from one person alone. It comes from all of us pulling in the same direction.

Tonight, we celebrate. But tomorrow, the real work begins. I’m ready. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to it, together.

Thank you, God bless you, and may God bless the Town of Winnsboro.
